Shoals Rodrigues provides Marine Education, Scientific Research and Community Support in order to achieve the conservation and sustainable use of Rodrigues marine resources. Our motto is: Reef conservation through information and education.

Shoals Rodrigues sees conservation of the marine resources as vital because many Rodriguans directly depend on the sea. We believe in the sustainable use of natural resources, however the current ways of exploitation need to change in order to conserve traditional ways of fishing and the unique Rodriguan marine nature for future generations.

To achieve our goals and raise the local understanding of Rodrigues encircling lagoon, we work closely together with educators, international volunteers and visiting scientists. Our activities specially focus on fisherman and school children that have a natural enthusiasm and thirst for knowledge when it comes to marine live. Their participation in our work over the last ten years demonstrates the success of Shoals Rodrigues and future potential for marine conservation.
